One of Hollywood's founding special effects artists, Willis O'Brien is grandfather to the genre. His influential work on King Kong and The Lost World would leave a lasting impression on young Ray Harryhausen, who would later follow in O'Brien's footsteps and turn out many unique claymation characters of his own.
